Caterpillar outbreak in West Java and Bali

There are reports of a caterpillar outbreak in West Java, West Jakarta and in the popular tourist resort of Bali. There is no clear reason for this caterpillar infestation in so many areas in Indonesia. Some people commented that this outbreak is the punishment of God for the sins that we have committed. While a more logical explanation is the change in seasonal weather that have the effect on plants and insects. Perhaps it is just a natural phenomenon and things will get back to normal again in a couple of weeks.

The thing about caterpillar is that it can cause a very irritable form of rash if you happen to touch it; or the caterpillar lands on your body and start crawling. I have suffered from a caterpillar rash before and it was definitely not pleasant. The rash will appear one or two days after touching the caterpillar and it will spread on your body. It is so itchy that you can hardly control the itch and then you want to start scratching it, which make it even worse. I have wrote a blog last year on my experience on the caterpillar rash and the cure ( medicine ) that the doctor has given me to cure this irritable rash. I think the authorities in Indonesia should not use so much insecticide to kill these caterpillars. The insecticide is harmful to the plants, trees, other insects, birds and soil. In fact we should protect nature and its environment as much as possible by not cutting down trees, trapping birds and animals and poisoning the soils.
